Will Zendaya Play 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' In A New Reboot?
The show’s original star Sarah Michelle Gellar wants the younger actor to fill her shoes.
Fans of the demon-fighting high schooler Buffy Anne Summers are dying for a reboot of the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and it seems like they’re not the only ones as the show’s original lead Sarah Michelle Gellar wants Zendaya take over the reigns.
Celebrating the show’s 25th anniversary on Instagram earlier this month, Gellar thanked fans for the show’s success and sparked rumors of a possible new version of the series in a recent interview with Evan Ross Katz, author of Into Every Generation a Slayer Is Born: How Buffy Staked Our Hearts. Gellar sang the Euphoria actor’s praises, saying, “I vote Zendaya,” if a reboot were made possible. The young multi-hyphenate actor would certainly do the role justice as Zendaya became the youngest star to win an Emmy award for her performance as Rue Bennet in the HBO Max drama series. While there were rumors of a reboot circulating in 2018, it was speculated that a woman of color would reprise the titular role.
We are definitely casting our vote to see Zendaya stake some vampires.
