Longchamp Drops Poetic Collection in Collaboration With André Saraiva
Giving art laden handbags a fashion renaissance.
Years after crossing paths in Paris, Longchamp reunites with street artist André Saraiva once again as he launches his first-ever handbag collection. The collaborative range is a joyous celebration of French culture and arrives adorned with Saraiva’s signature doodles on Longchamp’s widely-loved heritage designs.
For the collection, the French artist selects Longchamp’s archetypal Le Pliage bag — an expression of the brand’s timeless and classical style — in four alternative sizes and styles. Large travel-appropriate companions, miniature and everyday handbags are crafted in recycled nylon and come coated in block shades of graphic black, “Longchamp Green” as well as Saraiva’s favored palette of “Candy Pink” and “Sky Blue.”
Across the range, Saraiva plasters an assortment of his famous Mr A and Mrs A characters with grinning “AMOUR” smiles on the larger-sized bags and sweet winking faces on smaller accessories. Longchamp also introduces a premium calf leather version of the Le Pliage Travel bag with a zip-pull, where Saraiva’s take on the house’s famous racehorse medallion comes embossed in the center of the versatile edition.
Adding a special touch to the drop, Saraiva has hand-customized a run of 200 limited-edition bags in recycled polyester with pops of blue and pink paint splatters as well as a white-inked signature on the flap closing. Longchamp also releases three cotton scarves and one silk tie to accent the bags with even more color, complete with the collection’s dedicated artwork.
Shop the André Saraiva x Longchamp collection on the brand’s website and in global stores now with prices starting at $80 USD.
