AMBUSH x 88rising Join Forces on Collaborative Merch and Pop-Up
Set to debut at this weekend’s Head in the Clouds Festival.
88rising has tapped AMBUSH to launch a capsule of merch, in addition to a pop-up at its upcoming Head in the Clouds Festival scheduled for this weekend.
The collaboration follows up on the duo’s team-up for Coachella earlier this year. This time around, the duo has taken inspiration from summer surf, as well as their love for music and festivals, creating a collection of five garments and accessories. The range will be officially revealed at HITC with an artisan-dyed tee available exclusively at the event.
The range is led by a black sweatshirt featuring an 88-branded graphic with a silver shark. The same motif is found on T-shirts in black and blue, as well as in three-dimensional form on silver and gold pendant necklaces.
Cynthia Guo, creative director of 88rising, spoke of the editorial lookbook titled “ETERNAL SURF DREAM” starring Warren Hue. “The lookbook was shot in a convenience store because the collaboration’s starting point is surf culture. In the photos, Warren is coming back from surfing and grabbing a snack before he hits the road. Warren is a fan of AMBUSH; combined with his fashion aesthetic, it made him a natural fit for the collection.” AMBUSH’s Yoon added: “I’m really excited to be collaborating with 88rising after our Coachella collaboration. It is such a momentous moment to be holding this festival again and to have an opportunity to celebrate Asian artists in America.”
