Tommy Hilfiger Took Over the Plaza Hotel With Modern Americana

Remixing preppy fashion for modern trendsetters.

Staging a personal New York homecoming, Tommy Hilfiger brought his Spring/Summer 2027 runway collection to one of the city’s most iconic landmarks: The Plaza Hotel. Serving as both a storied NYC address and the place Hilfiger once called home, the hotel transformed its legendary Palm Court and Terrace Room into the perfect runway for “Plaza Prep.”

For Hilfiger, the venue is never an afterthought, and The Plaza provided a deeply personal backdrop. Having spent years residing at the historic location, the designer tapped into its constant stream of energy, heritage and eclectic guests as direct inspiration for the season. Modernizing classic American prep against gold-leaf archways and classic architecture, the setting served as a playground where timeless Tommy Hilfiger signatures were remixed for today’s culture as the models walked through the revolving doors.

Reinterpreting Ivy League classics through fresh proportions, vivid palettes and luxe fabrics, the collection breathed new life into traditional preppy dressing. The brand’s signature red, white and blue palette was refreshed alongside vibrant shades of yellow and green.

Polos shifted fluidly between shrunken and oversized cuts, complete with micro-embroidered Tommy crests and popped collars. Tailored chinos were reimagined as high-cut hot shorts in bold colors, alongside denim-inspired options with twisted seams.

The Tommy Flag was faded and washed across suede, silk-cashmere garments and voluminous totes. Looks were made whole by ’90s-inspired two-tone skate sneakers, boat shoes, leather pool slides and classic penny loafers.

The runway opened with Gigi Hadid setting the tempo, while Romeo Beckham brought a relaxed attitude to polished prep as he walked the final look. Accompanied by live music from Matt Jones and the Matt Jones Orchestra, the atmosphere built to a high-octane climax as pop star Slayyyter delivered a surprise finale performance of her hit song “Dance.”

Bringing together familiar faces across industries, the front row reflected the dynamic, star-studded energy of the venue itself. Major names in attendance included JISOO, Kate Moss, Jordyn Woods, Victoria Justice and Coco Jones. K-pop royalty Girls’ Generation sat alongside sports stars Carmelo Anthony, Karl-Anthony Towns and Suni Lee, rounding out an audience that epitomizes modern New York.
