Prince Harry Says He Wants His "Father and Brother Back" Amid Royal Family Drama
The Netflix docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan’ seemingly caused a rift.
Prince Harry is not holding back when it comes to speaking about his family. The Royal Family member, who stepped back in 2020, has commented on the dynamic between his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William.
There are two interviews airing ahead of the release of Harry’s memoir, Spare. In one of them, he discusses his family issues.
“It never needed to be this way,” Harry told ITV’s Tom Bradby in a preview for the January 8 interview. “I want a family, not an institution.”
Without revealing who he’s referring to, he added, “They feel as though it is better to keep us somehow as the villains. They’ve shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile.”
He concludes in the teaser, “I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back.”
In another preview for the second interview, he talks about how his family handles the tabloids, which has hurt him and his wife, Meghan Markle. “Every single time I tried to do it privately, there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife,” he told Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes, also airing on January 8. “You know, the family motto is ‘never complain, never explain’ it’s just a motto and it doesn’t really hold.”
Stay tuned for the interviews. Spare drops on January 10.
