Kim Shui‘s runway shows are never ones to be missed as the New York-based designer has a history of dressing It girls and its Fall/Winter 2023 collection was no exception.
The Chinese-born fashion visionary doesn’t shy away from sex appeal as she unapologetically celebrates the female form, presenting an array of skin-baring garments that skillfully play with textures and patterns. Masterfully merging the past with the present, Kim Shui revives ’90s-esque silhouettes in the form of longline translucent blazers and strappy pants comprised of lacing reminiscent of fishnets. Flirtatious polka dots arrive in the form of mini dresses boasting criss-crossed halter necklines, whereas a full lace bodysuit commands attention, exuding a dark femme fatale energy.
Elsewhere, a soft pink pastel corset accented with romantic tulle detailing offers a soft girl aesthetic in contrast to the collection’s more bold options. Snake print makes several appearances as a seductive python print covers a curve-hugging dress and edgy motorcycle jacket. Meanwhile, a daring cobalt blue velvet jumpsuit puts the wearers abs on display, leaving no room to hide.
