UPDATE (April 12, 2023): Amanda Bynes has been released from psychiatric care. The former actor was placed in a mental health facility after she was found naked in the streets of Los Angeles. The California native reportedly stopped taking her medication, triggering a relapse.

The now grown up child star expressed that she wasn’t being forced to stay in the hospital, but “didn’t quite feel ready to leave yet.” Her parents, who were supportive of her conservatorship’s termination last year, are taking action to find a plan that keeps Bynes healthy.

Former child star Amanda Bynes has been placed in psychiatric care.

Bynes, who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, was found roaming in the streets of Los Angeles naked this past Sunday. She reportedly approached a car for assistance and revealed to the driver that she had just experienced a psychotic episode, eventually calling the police to be taken down to the station. The actor was scheduled to appear at Connecticut’s ’90s Con with her former co-stars, but canceled due to a mystery illness.

Bynes is currently on 5150 hold, indicating that institutionalization was deemed necessary, typically lasting 72 hours or more, depending on the patient, according to Page Six. Sadly enough, the She’s The Man actor suffered a previous mental relapse around this time last year, after she was released from her nine-year conservatorship — both of her parents were incredibly supportive of its termination.

Since splitting from her ex fiancé Paul Michael, Bynes was exploring becoming a manicurist, having enrolled in cosmetology school October of last year.

Stay tuned for updates.
