Gwyneth Paltrow Wins in Ski Crash Trial After 7 Years

The jury found the lifestyle guru not liable for the collision that happened back in 2016.

The results of Gwyneth Paltrow‘s much-talked-about ski collision trial are in. The jury has found the goop founder not liable, ruling in her favor in the civil trial that began on March 21.

Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, 76, sued Paltrow after the two collided on a ski slope at the Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah in 2016, stating that the accident caused him permanent injuries. He initially looked to claim $3 million USD from Paltrow, which was later brought down to $300,000 USD once the trial began. The Spider-Man star counter-sued, noting that she was being exploited for her fame and wealth. After deliberating for two hours and 20 minutes, the jury of eight decided Sanderson was 100% at fault, and as a result, awarded Paltrow with $1 USD as she had requested.

The celebrity shared in a statement, “I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity. I am pleased with the outcome and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.”

Los Angeles entertainment attorney Tre Lovell said, according to The Guardian, “The jury found Gwyneth Paltrow’s version of events more credible, which was most likely because Paltrow and the experts testifying on her behalf gave a more detailed and compelling presentation. Paltrow’s charm and personal magnetism didn’t hurt either.” He added that “overall, she walks away from this trial with her image more than intact. It’s actually been enhanced because of how she handled herself with poise.”
