Step inside the mobile masterpiece.

Two icons are coming together as Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen and Rolls-Royce have joined forces to create the Phantom Syntopia.

“For this special collaboration, I was inspired by the concept of ‘Weaving Water.’ I wanted this to become a state-of-the-art experience being overwhelmed by the forces of nature. The powerful movement of the Phantom is woven into the shifting three-dimensional waves inside the car to embody the ingenuity of nature. Every garment I create is a one-off, tailor-made to my clients’ individual measurements, just like every Rolls-Royce. On many levels, this collaboration was a natural symbiosis,” van Herpen shares in an exclusive press release.

The haute couture automobile merges function with form, delivering an expertly crafted luxury vehicle, taking inspiration from van Herpen’s 2018 collection, which was grounded in nature. Enveloped in a unique “Liquid Noir” paint, the collaborative car flaunts hints of purple, blue, magenta and gold undertones from different angles when looked at in the light. The car’s interior mirrors flowing water as it is outfitted with three-dimensional textile sculptures.

Meanwhile, the “Weaving Water” Starlight Headliner takes the mobile masterpiece to the next level, creating a hypnotic, fluid light show on the car’s interior roof. Meticulously crafted, the highly technical feature is comprised of intricate symmetrical cuts that expose a molten metal effect made from woven nylon fabric. The piece is decorated with 162 glass organza petals, adorned by the fashion designer’s own team, taking 300 hours of hard work, making it the most complex headline in Rolls-Royce’s history. The car is made all the more special with the addition of a bespoke scent, resulting in a truly immersive and one-of-a-kind experience.
