The Weeknd Set To Make His Feature Acting Debut in Film Co-Starring Opposite Jenna Ortega
Here’s what we know so far about the forthcoming film.
Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye is focusing on acting as of lately. The “Die For You” singer is set to star in his feature acting debut in an untiled film that also stars Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan.
According to Deadline, “[Waves helmer Trey Edward] Shults will direct from a script he co-wrote with Tesfaye and his producing partner Reza Fahim. Tesfaye, Fahim, Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss are producing with Shultz and Ortega exec producing.”
So far, plot details remain unknown. However, according to the outlet, for some time now, The Weeknd has been working on the project, which he then approached Shults to direct. Then Fahim jumped on board and eventually so did Ortega and Keoghan.
Besides acting, The Weeknd has also been focusing on music. He recently dropped a “Die For You” remix with Ariana Grande and revealed he’s been working on new music. ”I’ve definitely been inspired. I’ve been in the studio,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
