'Obsession' on Netflix Goes Viral After *Insane* Solo Sex Scene
Not kink-shaming… just confused.
New Netflix BDSM-thriller Obsession has been trending since its recent launch and the latest in the pipeline is Episode 2’s solo sex scene.
This post contains spoilers.
About 25 minutes into the episode, Anna Barton (played by Charlie Murphy) exits her hotel and her lover William Farrow (played by Richard Armitage) gets an unimaginable idea — to us. As quickly as she hops in her Black car, William requests hotel room number 10, which Anna just checked out of.
As he enters the room, he makes his way to the bed and literally revels in the bedsheets. Just as you begin to wonder WTF is happening, he begins sniffing the sheets and pillows and you realize he’s masturbating. Yes, you read that correctly.
The intimacy scene has sent social media into a frenzy and gone viral. For those curious, William’s solo sex-capade is actually olfactophilia, a kink coined by none other than controversial psychologist Sigmund Freud. Olfactophilia is a kink where folks are sexually aroused by smells and odors. This can include body odor, which is what William feigned for, the smell of sex and other odors.
Although the series is a BDSM thriller, the scene has pushed past a boundary most are used to — which says alot seeing as Netflix champions inclusivity. To support its launch, Netflix launched an erotic immersive experience in the heart of London’s Soho featuring everything sex.
