A$AP Rocky Revs up PUMA's Must-Have Mostro
Launching a new “Distressed” collection that draws from the archives.
PUMA and A$AP Rocky are back for another round of their collaborative partnership, centering around the new Mostro 3.D, which made its debut on the stage at New York Fashion Week. Alongside the newly relaunched silhouette, the team-up also sees Rocky debut his take on the Inhale sneaker, revamped with a distressed treatment and custom embroidery.
Handpicked by Rocky from the archive, the Inhale Distressed sneaker takes inspiration from mechanics in car garages finishing their lengthy days covered in grease stains and dirt. As a result, the accompanying RTW collection also follows this same distressed style, elevated by racing-inspired design details and A$AP Rocky x PUMA branding.
The Mostro 3.D takes center stage, pushing the boundaries of footwear design through a resin-based 3D-printing process. Arriving in a black and red colorway with spiked details, the shoe’s distinctive silhouette offers a radical reimagining of a classic. Elsewhere, the collection includes the Puma Inhale Distressed, crafted with embroidered flames and a translucent gradient sole.
The collection’s apparel offering includes a loose-fit, puff-printed tank top with tire marks at the chest, knee-pad pants inspired by pit crews, a racing-inspired zip-up polo top and dark wash denim shorts with an oversized fit. Elsewhere, the collection accessories take inspiration from old-school car seatbelts and mechanic’s tools, including a webbing belt and leather belt.
“It was about time that I put my own spin on some of the best footwear styles that PUMA has to offer,” said A$AP Rocky in a statement. He adds, “People have been asking nonstop about the Mostro 3.D since the fashion show so I’m excited to finally get them out. Then we also have the OG Inhale with hand-distressed fabric and custom embroidery/detailing, giving that worn look to tie into the rest of the apparel. I’m really happy with how these turned out and can’t wait for everyone to see what else we have been working on.”
