Marine Serre's FW25 Show Was Right on the Money
Presenting a celebratory collection filled with couture looks crafted from upcycled coins, antique watches and more.
Marine Serre returned to the runway for the Fall/Winter 2025 season of Paris Fashion Week, inviting guests to the La Monnaie de Paris — a historic venue that quite literally produces France’s money. A unique juxtaposition for a young and independent designer, the location aimed to represent Serre’s resistance “in a world run by financial dictates.”
In keeping with the financial theme, guests sat on seats complete with boxed gold coins, stamped with Serre’s profile on one side and the signature crescent moon emblem on the other. The collection that followed aimed to represent freedom, evolution and strength, looking back at the last seven years of the brand.
Opening the showcase was a sleek black catsuit, taking inspiration from one of the first heroines in cinematic history: Irma Vep. Crafted from moon-tattooed leather, the monochromatic look set the pace for what was to come. Powerful silhouettes elevated by cinched waists, structured detailing and a jewelry capsule, the collection bridged the gap between sensuality and strength.
Elsewhere, concealed faces, upcycled leather dresses and lingerie-inspired looks paraded down the catwalk, upstaged by 10 couture looks crafted from upcycled coins, medals, antique watches and furs. These pieces were undoubtedly the star of the show, with the antique watch mini-dress a look that we’ll remember for years to come.
Exploring the concepts of passion and power, the collection rarely departed from black, white and silver hues except for deep shards of bright red, arriving on mesh and satin pieces. Taking inspiration from the “red room” of Twin Peaks, the collection aimed to question the boundaries between truth and fiction.
