Nevermind Sexy, Stella McCartney FW25 Is Bringing Glamor Back
From laptop to lapdance.
It’s fitting that for her first show since buying LVMH’s share back, Stella McCartney would get back to business. And she is in the business of material innovation – and thereby proving that making ethical choices need not mean compromising on glamor or quality in any way, shape or form.
The Fall/Winter 2025 collection took place at Stellacorp, and dragged the fashion crowd all the way to the 17th arrondissement. Inside the otherwise austere building block, Stellacorp was set up like an IRL office from the ‘80s. Post-It notes served as place cards, with The Stella Times – “the newspaper of record for global changemakers, celebrating women, creating effortless desirability and pioneering fashion” – perched on every seat. Computer stations were complete with all the office bits and bobs: phones, printers, mugs, notepads, you name it. There were even branded water coolers strewn around the runway. McCartney-clad actors buzzed around, picking up calls, clambering over desks and becoming increasingly more stressed, presumably matching their looming (fictitious) deadlines. And that was all before the show even started.

The collection itself really embodied the day-to-night ethos that once was so popular in ‘90s magazines. Where corpcore has, for the most part, felt like a return to drab office dressing, albeit made fabulous by virtue of its boxy nature and rectangular eyewear, McCartney’s take is capital G-Glam. Dress-for-success broad-shouldered suits were only outdone by hooded coats, glistening silken gowns and bare bottoms. The mood overall ways full-on ‘80s decadence: in your face glam with the boldest red lip (courtesy of Dame Pat McGrath), matched by American Psycho power suits and Working Girl boots. And, of course, everything that looked like leather (or python or ostrich) wasn’t. Instead, it was all Yatay M, a vegan fabrication made out of fungi mycelium, recycled polyester and biobased polyurethane. “Save what you love,” as The Stella Times screamed in red print.
The adidas x Stella McCartney Rasant made a welcome return, too. Updated with seasonal new colorways since their SS25 debut, the high-top silhouette fuses boxing and racing references into one cruelty-free package. The black pair, sported by Joy Crookes, looked totally fabulous.
Other celebrity guests included Ice Spice, Kate Moss, Cameron Diaz and (in something straight out of Emily in Paris) Brigitte Macron, who chatted away to artist Jeff Koons for ages. Finishing off the show with a real bang, McCartney brought a flash of a lapdance to the table, with male and female pole dancers taking a spin of their own on the runway. No doubt Stellacorp will be dealing with those H.R. complaints for time.
