SHUSHU/TONG FW25 Is All About "Mutual References"
Featuring killer color combos and a masterclass in layering.
Each season of Shanghai Fashion Week seems to get bigger and better, and SHUSHU/TONG remains our highlight every time. For Fall/Winter 2025, the brand presented its “Mutual References” collection, inspired by a photograph from Diane Arbus titled “Identical Twins.”
The collection explores the duality of self and the “fictional narrative” behind Arbus’s image. It looks at themes like self-awareness, identity construction, and — of course — female empowerment because it wouldn’t be a SHUSHU show without it. Exploring duality through its color palettes and construction, the collection favors hues of earthy brown and green to symbolize the weaving in of life.
Elsewhere, the offering acts as a masterclass in layering, pairing delicate bras with heavy knits, fitted polos and bandeau tops. Tailoring takes center stage here too, presenting feminine takes on classic silhouettes. According to the brand’s show notes, each piece “embodies the two girls, both spirited and rebellious, yet resilient and unbreakable.”
