Acne Studios and Jonathan Lyndon Chase Reveal Their Second Collaboration
During Frieze New York, the artist displays never-before-seen work.
For Frieze New York 2025, Acne Studios continues its collaboration with visual artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase.
Now on view, the second collaboration features a New York exhibit of Chase’s work, alongside an aesthetic capsule collection. The temporary exhibit, which showcases Chase’s eclectic, unreleased work, runs from May 7 to May 11.
Chase’s paintings feature queer, Black bodies in intricately detailed and loving poses. His figures are inspired by those closest to him, such as lovers and friends. Chase and Acne Studios first joined forces for the fashion brand’s Spring/Summer 2025 womenswear collection. The project merged the multidisciplinary artists’ skills, featuring sculptures, furniture and paintings. Continuing the theme of women’s culture, Chase “explored themes of Black subjectivity, queerness and domestic tenderness,” through subverting typical home decor like “lamps, fans, sinks, radios and picture frames.”
The “Acne Studios Loves Jonathan Lyndon Chase” capsule collection plays into Acne’s signature bows, featuring the detail across clothing and homeware items. Simultaneously, Chase’s inclusive figurines wrap around every garment.
The collection also features “a version of Acne Studios’ 1981 jeans, T-shirts, cushions and a blanket,” the press release stated. “Fabrics have the illusion of denim – a nod to Acne Studios’ foundational material.”
