In a new cover story interview with Sports IllustratedOlympic gymnast Suni Lee opens up about life off-season, moving to New York City and entering the fashion world.

“Moving to New York has been a big adjustment,” she told the publication, “but also getting into the fashion world has been so surreal.” Lee’s move perfectly aligns with the current love story between sports and fashion. Most recently, the star stunned at A$AP Rocky‘s AWGE MET Gala after party.

She continued, “But also this is the first time I’ve really taken a break from gymnastics. Diving into something like that has been really, really different, but also one of the best experiences of my life.”

Since landing in NY, she’s become an NBA courtside favorite, too. Most recently, NY Knicks fans thanked her for seemingly motivating player OG Anunoby to drop 32 points — his highest game average yet. Despite her popularity among fans, the seven time gold medalist has faced a difficult journey to success. In college, she withdrew from the NCAA championship for then-undisclosed reasons. Shortly after, she revealed she suffered from a kidney disease and has since become ”an ambassador for the American Kidney Fund and uses her platforms to raise awareness of the chronic condition.”
