I Never Wear Foundation, but This One Has Converted Me

Our honest review of Haus Labs’ Triclone Skin Tech Foundation.

Foundation might just be the trickiest makeup product to experiment with. Unlike smaller products that can be a bit safer to gamble on, foundations typically bring a hefty price tag — and thus, added pressure. If finding your perfect shade wasn’t hard enough, finding the right formula might be even more difficult. In the sea of buzzy TikTok products, I found that Haus Labs‘ Triclone Skin Tech Foundation came up often, and I wasn’t quick to believe the hype.

As someone with sensitive skin, I’m not huge on foundation. On a daily basis, I find that a thick layer of moisturizer and a touch of concealer feels the best on my skin. Because of this, I’m especially skeptical about trying new foundations. While I’ve heard tons of good things about Haus Labs’ cult-favorite foundation, it wasn’t until I wore it that I truly understood.

Why The Hype?

Making use of Haus Labs’ skin innovations, the Triclone Skin Tech Foundation is infused with clean ingredients, including roprietary fermented arnica, which works to reduce redness and protect the skin from environmental stress. Beyond that, it promises to deliver buildable coverage, suitable for all skin types — from acne-prone to sensitive.

How To Use

Thanks to its liquid formula, the Triclone Skin Tech Foundation applies seamlessly. Haus Labs suggests starting with moisturized skin, warming the foundation up with clean fingertips, before finally applying it at the center of your face and spreading it out to the perimeter with a sponge or your fingers. Personally, I find that the brand’s Foundation Brush is the ideal tool for application, as it distributes the product evenly while leaving you with that airbrushed look. After moisturizing, I squeeze a pea-sized amount on the back of my hand and warm it up with the brush before applying it to my face.

An Honest Review

Because of its wide shade range (which consists of exactly 51 shades), I had difficulty tracking down my exact match — which in the grand scheme of things, is not a bad problem to have. In fact, I would consider this my only issue with the foundation, although I’m not exactly an expert at finding my shade anyway. When it comes to all other aspects, the Triclone Skin Tech Foundation ticks all of my boxes.

The thing I dislike about foundation most is its ability to weigh my skin down. Since I’m especially prone to breakouts from unfamiliar products, I was nervous that the Haus Labs foundation wouldn’t only feel heavy, but also lead to a major acne flare-up. To my surprise, it felt practically weightless on my skin without any irritation — and unlike other foundations I’ve dabbled with, I comfortably wore it for hours on end and never rushed to take it off. Not to mention, it genuinely made my skin look good. After I found a shade that worked, I realized that the foundation evened my skin tone effortlessly and didn’t make me look cakey.

The Final Verdict

If you’re in search of a foundation that’s easy to apply, feels good on the skin and actually looks seamless, Haus Labs’ Triclone Skin Tech Foundation is just what you need. Although I can’t speak on behalf of other skin types, I noticed that my normal-to-dry, sensitive skin had no issues with it. Whether you’re preparing for a big night and want to look your best, or just need a little extra help on a chill day, it’ll give you everything you need — and more.
