2017 is going to be the year for women in the sneaker industry. We just know it. With news dropping of PUMA’s ladies-only, ballet-inspired Swan Pack; and the revival of Nike’s Air Tech Challenge II, which will be released in women’s specific sizing for the first time ever, we’re psyched to see what the rest of the year has in store for us. This is just the beginning, after all.
Over the past few months, we’ve travelled across the United States to find the best girl-friendly sneaker stores. Now, it’s time we take a trip over the Atlantic to see what the U.K. has to offer. In this edition of “Sole Searching,” we travel from England’s south coast all the way up to Scotland on the hunt for retailers that stock cool kicks in women’s sizes. Read on to see a list of our favorite shops.
END. has been a mainstay in the U.K. sneaker scene for over 10 years, and now has two physical stores in Glasgow and Newcastle that are just as lush as the kicks they play host to. Primarily known as the go-to destination for high-end, hip clothes and footwear for guys, the store also boasts an unparalleled selection of ladies sneakers. With everything from the Nike Air Huarache Run to the premium range from Vans, there’s something for every girl, no matter what your style is.

Nestled away unassumingly under a railway bridge, Kicks Love is one of two girls-only sneaker stores in the capital city and was opened in October 2016. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in stellar sneakers, with offerings including Le Coq Sportif’s Eclat in four different finishes, the ever-popular PUMA collaborations, and shoes from cult Finnish sports brand, Karhu.

Based in Aberdeen, Hanon has developed a cult-like following worldwide, and for good reason, too. Of course, they have all the usual contenders — the Vans Sk8-Hi and the ASICS GEL-Lyte in every colorway imaginable. What Hanon is renowned for, however, is its extensive range of limited-edition kicks. The store itself has collaborated with brands like Reebok, PUMA and Diadora, to name a few. With unusual styles including the Mita x Hummel Marathona OG and the recent NAKED x adidas Samba collaboration, you’ll be spoiled for choice at this Scottish retailer.
Address: Hanon, 154 Market Street, Aberdeen, AB11 5PP
First opened in late 2014, the south coast’s Sneaker Lab stocks a pretty decent range for ladies. Although it reps all the classic brands and silhouettes, like Nike’s Air Max 1 and Converse’s Chuck Taylor, this compact store also houses more innovative, contemporary styles including the Nike Huarache Run and the iconic adidas ZX Flux. Oh, and did we mention that the store itself is designed by an award-winning landscape architect? The boutique is a must-visit for sneakerheads and design enthusiasts alike.
Address: Sneaker Lab, 28 Warwick Street, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 3DJ
Since its inception in 2009, Soleheaven has been a longstanding favorite among sneaker enthusiasts on the U.K.’s north-east coast. With a fair selection of sneakers for women, styles available at the shop include Nike’s Classic Cortez, Air Max Thea and Air Jordan. Although it has a smaller ladies selection than most of the stores on our list, the store is still worth stopping by for its carefully-curated sneaker collection and its show-stopping sneaker wall.
Address: Soleheaven, 6 Old Eldon Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 7JG
Finishing off our list of femme-friendly sneaker stores is the one and only pam pam. The bona-fide destination for streetwear-obsessed girls was the U.K.’s first women’s-only sneaker boutique. Not only does the shop carry an extensive range of kicks from massive global names, but it also stocks a number of lesser known brands like Slovakian footwear label, Novesta. Stop by to pick up shoes such as the Nike Air Tech Challenge and the Reebok Club C 85, and stay for the sweet customer service and Instagram-worthy interior.
