Gucci's Chunky, Jewel-Covered SEGA Sneakers Are the Most Extra Thing We've Seen
The dad shoe goes ultra-luxe.
There’s no denying that the dad shoe trend is still very much alive and kicking – the highly-anticipated debut of Nike’s M2K Tekno and the re-release of Buffalo London‘s classic styles is just further proof. Of course, luxury brands are keen to put their own ostentatious spin on the trend and Gucci has taken it to another level with its ultra-luxe SEGA-inspired sneaker.
Having been revealed in six colorways already, the sneaker has a mixed-material upper, with panels of supple suede and leather sandwiched between sporty mesh hits. Ranging in color from warm beige hues, metallic jewel tones, crisp and clean whites to tonal blacks, the bulky shoes each have SEGA-inspired Gucci branding on the tongue and hiking-style laces. The standout details across the collection are the bejeweled, seemingly detachable, crossover straps upon the midfoot, a large heel tab and a super-exaggerated, clunky midsole that rounds off the look.
Take a look at the revealed colorways above – there’s no news on an official name, price or release date for these Gucci sneakers yet, but stay tuned for further info. For a more subtle sneaker, check out Gucci’s newest Rhyton shoes.
