MM6 Maison Margiela's Resort 2019 Collection Is Giving Us Childhood Nostalgia
The latest from John Galliano.
For his Fall/Winter 2018 collection, John Galliano brought unconventional designs down the runway, showcasing pieces created from holographic textures in the form of coats, skirts and oversized jackets for Maison Margiela. Now, the latest collection from the brand is centred around the nostalgia of childhood, where the designs draws their inspiration from children’s clothing and turn them into playful pieces for adults.
MM6’s Resort 2019 collection is a rework of vintage childrenswear. One of the most prominent pieces in this range is the little girl’s oversized dresses coming in military green, black and floral prints, giving off a youthful charm. There is also a variety of children’s vintage shoes that can be seen in multiple shades and matched with below-the-knee socks symbolizing the ’60s school girl look. The collection is also filled with plaid suits, as well as oversized knitted jerseys with large black buttons placed in centre. Another striking item is the beige leather tote bag with the MM6 label printed in the front.
