PUMA Debuts the New CALI Sport In Tokyo FW19 Streetwear Lookbook
The CALI Sport proves its edgy appeal in Japan.
Born out of movements embraced by subcultures like skaters, surfers and hip-hop, the streetwear movement first established roots in California and New York, quickly taking to the streets of Japan. For the release of its new CALI Sport, PUMA pays homage to this mashup of style scenes by heading to Tokyo to debut its edgy, West Coast-inspired design and to highlight how the silhouette stylishly assimilates into the city’s distinct fashion sensibility.
Taking inspiration from PUMA’s lineage of classic CALI styles, the CALI Sport’s design is notable for its new upper, zig-zag stitching details and an on-trend, chunky platform for added height. California-inspired styling and edgier tooling are defined by feminine details, like an outsole placed at the back of the shoes that allows for metallic and vibrant pops of color.
Placing the PUMA CALI Sport in the epicenter of Japan’s street-style scene, the lookbook above captures the sneaker’s edgy styling while demonstrating street-savvy ways the kicks can be worn in an urban setting. Oversized silhouettes, like a voluminous coat and slouchy, orange track pants pay tribute to classic streetwear styles and complement the relaxed nature of PUMA’s CALI Sport.
Click through the lookbook above and head to PUMA.com to purchase the shoes for $90 USD now.
