Take a First Look Inside CELINE's Redesigned New York Flagship
The first of a slew of storefront revamps under Hedi Slimane.
Hedi Slimane‘s arrival as creative director at CELINE defined the end of an era for the iconic French fashion house. Following his widely critiqued first collection and the striking logo change, Slimane debuts another testament to his limitless creativity: a redesigned New York boutique.
Taking up 500 square meters, the Madison Avenue flagship store is the world’s largest CELINE boutique. Detailing features a balanced and expansive sculptural interior marked by tiles, constructed with grey lava stones. The walls and shelves include a ginger and cream-veined granite. Additional accents include pillars created with oak, concrete, stainless steel, brass and gold mirror. Providing a contrast in the space are Slimane-designed, pieces of furniture placed throughout the boutique. Objets d’art created by contemporary artist like James Balmforth, Jose Davila, Elaine Cameron Weir and Oscar Tuazon, top it all off.
The New York store redesign will be followed by additional boutique revamps at CELINE standalone stores worldwide. Up next is Hong Kong’s Landmark department store in Central which will be followed by Ocean Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui.
