SM Entertainment Teases New K-Pop Girl Group, aespa
Here’s what we know about the upcoming act so far.
After much anticipation, SM Entertainment has announced a new K-pop girl group dubbed aespa to debut soon. While not much is known just yet, the management company has revealed Winter, the first member of the group.
Starting off with official accounts on platforms like Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, SM has been slowly unveiling its latest project. The new group marks the company’s first-ever girl group in six years, ever since Red Velvet debuted back in 2014.
According to a press release, aespa stands for “Avatar X Experience,” highlighting the concept of exploring a new world through diverse aspects through diverse avatars of oneself. As of now, SM has introduced Winter via social media, explaining that she is a 19-year-old Korean member with exceptional vocal and dancing skills.
