Amaarae Throws a '90s House Party in "JUMPING SHIP" Music Video
The sultry visual comes hot on the heels of Amaarae’s sophomore album.
Ghanian American singer Amaarae has unveiled a striking music video for “JUMPING SHIP,” the fifth track off her sophomore album THE ANGEL YOU DON’T KNOW. Directed by Remi Laudat, the visual sets the smooth track — whose sound recalls the late ’90s and early ’00s — against a neon-lit house party.
Featuring Kojey Radical and Cruel Santino, “JUMPING SHIP” is a languid, sultry tune that’s also suited for the dance floor. Clad in outfits that remix the best of the ’90s and ’00s, Amaarae brings the energy of the song to life. ”The video is a pretty simple and straightforward concept — the three of us chasing after this Aphrodite figure is a representation of human desire and the need to always indulge our curiosities, which is more or less what ‘JUMPING SHIP’ is about,” the artist explained. “Remi Laudat did an incredible job with using lighting to create a sensual and soft energy and mood,” she added.
