KAWS Teams Up With SONS + DAUGHTERS for Companion-Inspired Sunglasses
Arriving with an immersive installation in Hong Kong.
Following his collaborative sacai x Nike LDWaffle, KAWS has now joined forces with eyewear label SONS + DAUGHTERS for a collection of sunglasses. The accessories take inspiration from the artist’s Companion character.
KAWS was motivated from his experience as a father of two daughters for the latest partnership, reinforcing SONS + DAUGHTERS’ mission to “take inspiration from current and past icons to cater to icons of the future.” Highlighting their premium quality of sunglasses catered to children, Canada-born brand’s founders Shiva Shabani and Calvin Yu have translated KAWS’ iconic artwork onto their staple items. Dressed in three colorways, the limited shades feature the character’s signature XX eyes on the UV-protective lenses. The hinge of the frames is adorned with Companion’s hands. The gray and black iterations are tinted in blue, while the remaining design is dressed in pink.

The KAWS x SONS + DAUGHTERS sunglasses are slated to drop stateside at 12 p.m. EST on November 19 online and in Hong Kong at 10 a.m. HKT via WOAW Gallery Store’s website. To celebrate the launch, an immersive installation will take place in the city from November 19 to 22.
