Starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis — watch the trailer here.
For the first time ever, a Christmas rom-com produced by a major studio centering on a gay couple is set to release later this month. Titled Happiest Season, the Hulu original film stars Kristen Stewart, Mackenzie Davis, Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Daniel Levy, Mary Holland, Burl Moseley, Victor Garber and Mary Steenburgen.
Directed by Clea DuVall, the movie follows the story of Abby (Stewart) who plans on proposing to her girlfriend Harper (Davis) at her family’s annual Christmas dinner. “I just woke up thinking about going home with you and got very excited about Christmas,” Abby says at the beginning of the trailer. “I get to go meet the people who made my favorite person.” However, Abby learns that her girlfriend has not come out to her family yet. “I am scared that if I tell them who I really am, I will lose them,” Harper expresses later on in the clip. “I am not hiding you, I am hiding me.” Keeping their relationship and Harper’s sexuality a secret during their stay will be a challenge for Abby. Will she be strong enough to keep it together before Christmas?
