Colin Kaepernick and Disney Announce Partnership Deal
The deal includes an ESPN-produced docuseries on the former NFL player.
Colin Kaepernick’s production company, RA Vision Media, and Disney have inked a partnership deal that will focus on content exploring race, equality and social justice. As part of the deal, ESPN (a Disney platform) will produce a documentary series on Kaepernick, who has yet to re-enter the NFL since he was exiled in 2016 for kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality.
In addition to ESPN, Kaepernick’s deal will extend to Disney platforms Walt Disney Television, Hulu, Pixar and The Undefeated. Disney’s Executive Chairman Bob Iger issued a statement on the newly announced partnership: ”During this unprecedented time, The Walt Disney Company remains committed to creating diverse and inclusive content that resonates and matters,” Iger said. “Colin’s experience gives him a unique perspective on the intersection of sports, culture and race, which will undoubtedly create compelling stories that will educate, enlighten and entertain, and we look forward to working with him on this important collaboration.”
In related news, Netflix will release a six-part scripted series based on the life of Kaepernick.
