Takashi Murakami Announces New Collaboration With Hello Kitty
Featuring a never-before-seen panda character.
Continuing his vast list of collaborations this year including Supreme and Billie Eilish x UNIQLO UT, Takashi Murakami has now taken to Instagram to reveal his latest work with Hello Kitty. While not much information is known just yet, the Japanese artist is continuing to roll out new projects, despite having revealed last week that his company Kaikai Kiki is facing bankruptcy.
“New collaboration with Hello Kitty and Sanrio,” Murakami took to social media to share an image of a panda character and the popular feline sitting side by side, with the iconic flower motif placed at the front. While a similar figure was seen previously in Murakami’s collaboration with Louis Vuitton back in 2004, the panda featuring the alphabet “P” on each ear is a new addition to the creative’s list of characters. With Hello Kitty being a popular collaborator among brands such as BE@RBRICK, Casetify and Dr. Martens, the new project is definitely one to watch in the realm of art and fashion.
Stay tuned as we learn more about the Hello Kitty x Takashi Murakami collaboration. In case you missed it, UNIQLO UT will be releasing a range of Doraemon-branded T-shirts soon.
