Coi Leray's New EP 'Now or Never' Is Here
Joined by the premiere of her “Do Better” music video.
New Jersey-bred rapper and pop star Coi Leray has released her new EP, Now or Never. The six-track record, which follows the emerging artist’s 2019 project EC2, arrives with a number of A-list features. In addition to a collaboration with Fetty Wap, “Better Days,” the 23-year-old has enlisted Gunna to appear on her lead single “Slide,” as well as Kiana Ledé and Sevyn Streeter for the sultry late-night anthem “I Like It.”
Accompanying the launch of Leray’s latest EP is the official music video for her motivational single “Do Better,” in which the singer is seen leading her team to victory in a flag football game. Watch the visual above.
Here, the Republic Records signee answers a series of quick-fire questions about her summer music favorites, her YouTube food show “Cooking with Coi Leray” and of course, her new EP that is now available to stream on Apple Music and Spotify.
Now or Never follows your mixtape EC2 that was released last year. How does this new project reflect your growth as an artist?
This new EP reflects the growth I’ve had as an artist by showcasing my versatility, interests and lifestyle.
Your new single “Do Better” is all about pushing yourself to reach your full potential. What are your ambitions?
My ambitions are driven by doing my best. So, I aspire to become a pillar in fashion with my men’s clothing line and in music topping charts, simultaneously.
What is another of your favorite songs on this EP and what is the inspiration for it?
Another of my favorite tracks is “Better Days.” The story behind that song is to overcome life’s obstacles and the triumph in getting through challenges and achieving better days than you had before.
During lockdown, you’ve shown fans your cooking skills in a food series on YouTube. What are some of your go-to dishes to make at home these days?
Some of my go-to dishes to make at home as of late have been chicken and rice, as well as meatloaf and peas.
What’s another secret talent of yours besides cooking?
I also like to express my creativity through painting and sketching.
Going back to music though, how have you challenged yourself to stay creative over the past few months?
I have built out a studio at home, and have been using it as often as possible.
