UPDATE: Netflix Releases Trailer for 'BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky' Documentary

The film highlights the K-pop group’s four-year-long journey to becoming a global sensation.

UPDATE (October 6, 2020): Netflix has unveiled the trailer for its highly anticipated documentary on hit K-pop group BLACKPINK. The 2-minute preview for BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky reveals childhood footage of members Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo, as well as emotional interviews with the four performers and behind-the-scenes shots of the stars.

BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky hits Netflix on October 14. Take a look at the trailer above.

ORIGINAL STORY (September 9, 2020): Since their debut in 2016, BLACKPINK has become one of the most influential K-pop groups in history, headlining Coachella last year and recently dropping a collaboration with Selena Gomez. To give fans a deeper look into the girl band, Netflix has partnered with YG Entertainment for an original documentary titled BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky.

From backstage moments to the group’s dorm life, the film highlights the diverse facets of BLACKPINK. Directed by Salt Fat Acid Heat‘s Caroline Suh, the anticipated release includes down-to-earth interviews with Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo. According to an official press release, the documentary captures the members in their most natural and authentic selves.

“We’re excited to share our story with BLINKs all around the world. We hope this film brings everyone joy,” BLACKPINK commented on the upcoming show. “We’re lucky to be able to work with one of the biggest girl groups in the world. We’re thrilled to showcase the musicians’ passion to BLACKPINK fans and our viewers,” Netflix’s VP of Original Documentary Film Adam Del Deo added.

BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky is slated to premiere on October 14, just after the group’s second record THE ALBUM releasing on October 2.
