Helmut Lang's New Artwork Features Saint Laurent Pieces

Saint Laurent’s Creative Director Anthony Vacarello has just revealed upcoming plans for a collaboration with designer and artist Helmut Lang. Since leaving his eponymous label in 2005, the designer has stayed out of the spotlight and has been a bit of an industry mystery, but now he’s returning to the stage to bring his art to life.
“I’ve been fascinated by Helmut for years. For my generation, he is the ultimate designer of the ’90s,” said Vaccarello, explaining that his interst in the designer led to a visit to Lang’s studio on Long Island. There, Vaccarello suggested a denim collaboration which Lang rejected, pitching an art-based collaboration instead. “Anthony was the first person in fashion to engage in a collaboration focusing on my artwork. As I collaborated with artists in different ways throughout my time in fashion, it was intriguing to be in the reversed position,” Helmut Lang told Business of Fashion.
