Vans and MoMA Update Classic Sneakers With Iconic Works of Art
Footwear and apparel is printed with works by Dalí, Monet and more.
Vans is paying homage to a series of iconic works at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) with a collection of sneakers and apparel printed with masterpieces by Salvador Dalí, Claude Monet and Vasily Kandinsky.
One of Dalí’s best-known paintings, The Persistence of Memory, is applied to the Vans Old Skool Twist, along with a long-sleeve T-shirt and hoodie. Monet’s water lilies appear on the Authentic while Kandinsky’s Orange 1923 is translated onto the Slip-On. Caps, backpacks and T-shirts also bear interpretations of the recognizable works. Topping off the collection, Vans updates two sneaker silhouettes, the Old Skool and Era, in a color version of its heritage checkerboard print.
The MoMA x Vans collection releases at HBX on September 30. A second installment featuring works by Edvard Munch, Jackson Pollock, Lybov Popova and Faith Ringgold will release sometime in November.
