Italian brand SUNNEI has been taking on new projects this year – back in July, it debuted a digital platform dedicated to customization. Showcasing its Spring/Summer 2021 runway in an empty swimming pool in Milan, the label celebrated some of its recent achievements.
Just before the show, Nanushka‘s Chief Executive Peter Baldaszti announced a substantial investment in SUNNEI with the aim to build a larger fashion group in the future, helping the fledgling name to gain a more global audience. Additionally, the label had also revealed plans for its new headquarters, Palazzina SUNNEI, which will serve as a platform for the artistic community.
For the SS21 season, the brand headed to a large venue at Lido di Milano to expand its womenswear range, which was presented in front of 100 in-person guests in addition to a digital livestream. Staying true to its minimal aesthetic, the range was all about gender fluidity. Models walked out in a muted color palette splashed onto oversized tonal suit sets, relaxed trousers, lengthy coats, dresses and more. The outfits were styled with color-blocked shoulder bags with extra-wide straps. Bold patterns also took the stage, with stripes and plaid printed on knit tops and short-sleeved tees. Highlighting the collection were striking footwear options, which included flat-heeled boots complete with tie-dye print and rounded studs.
