Kim Jones Debuts Fendi Couture Collection

With appearances from Naomi Campbell, Bella Hadid, Kate Moss, Demi Moore and more on the runway.

Kim Jones has just debuted his first collection for Fendi, kicking off his residency with the fashion house with his first Haute Couture collection filling the position that Karl Lagerfeld previously held for 54 years. The show took place in a room filled with what initially just looked like small glass rooms, and later turned out to all be shaped like the recognizable Fendi “FF” monogram.

The anticipated show was opened by Demi Moore, a surprise to viewers all around the world. As the models entered the room, the maze-like setup showed each of the intricate designs in multiple forms, reflected by the mirrors, and fairytale-inspired music played as names like Adwoa Aboah, Bella Hadid and more paraded down the runway. It is no secret that Kim Jones has an impressive list of friends, and for his first couture show (and first-ever full womenswear show), he enlisted them all to come and support him as well as walk in his debut show. Lila Moss shortly followed by her mother Kate Moss wore Jones’ creations, featuring long silky gowns as well as intricate beading and chiffon.

More familiar names also made an appearance, including Christy Turlington and her nephew James Turlington, Cara Delevingne, Kesewa Aboah, and Jones’ longtime friend and supermodel Naomi Campbell closed the show in a long gown with marble-like prints layered silk. It goes without saying that Jones’ debut collection for Fendi was a family affair, inviting those closest to him to share the moment with him, making the show both sentimental and beautiful.

The show itself was inspired by feminist literary icons as well as the four generations of Fendi women, and the accessories and styling was consulted by Kate Moss. Playing with androgyny and romance, the range was fluid and dreamy, using the luxury house’s impeccable craftsmanship to create pieces that look simple at first glance, but with a closer look multiple layers and intricate details are revealed. The color palette of the collection was muted, featuring hues of blue and beige throughout, as well as black and white, with dewy makeup finishing off the look.
