HYBE and Universal Music Group Are on the Hunt for the Next Global Girl Group

Online auditions are now open.

On November 4, HYBE livestreamed its “2021 HYBE Corporate Briefing with the Community” event announcing its new projects, one which is in partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG).

As part of their joint venture, the duo has announced the first-ever HYBE x Geffen Global Girl Group Audition in search of the next global girl pop group. This marks the first time a K-pop entertainment company and a U.S.-based record label have joined forces to discover new artists.

According to a press release, “HYBE and UMG will collectively emphasize artist development through components such as music and performance training as well as life skills training, including mental wellness and music business and financial literacy, to lead a rewarding and sustaining career.” Set to debut in Los Angeles, the new group will be created based on K-pop training and its development system, which combines music, performance, fashion, music videos and communications with fans.

Aspiring artists aged 15 to 19 (16 to 19 for Europe residents) can now start submitting their audition videos online until November 28 at 11:59 p.m. PT (November 29 at 2:59 a.m. ET).
