An over-the-top presentation inspired by George Cukor’s 1939 film, ‘The Women.’
For the Spring/Summer 2021 season, Jeremy Scott played around with intricate puppet figures to showcase a socially distanced collection for Moschino. Now, the designer has returned with yet another over-the-top presentation for Fall/Winter 2021 with a show within a show.
Influenced by George Cukor’s 1939 film The Women, the “Jungle Red” collection takes viewers back in time. The accompanying video sees a ’40s-themed scene with upper-class women (modeled by the likes of Winnie Harlow) sipping a cup of tea as they wait for the show to begin. The stage opens with a city-inspired set, with Hailey Bieber walking out in a pinstripe skirt suit. Following variations of blazers and trousers in numbered patterns, stripes and more, the stage rotates to reveal a meadow scene, where Miranda Kerr and Soo Joo Park twirl in garments adorned with physical cows on the prairie.
The show continues on with potato sack-shaped dresses and agriculture-inspired headwear, as it swiftly transitions into an art museum. Models transform into a post-Impressionist painting as they don gowns with handpainted brushstrokes all over their bodies.
A wild jungle theme is added to the mix with giraffe looks, as well as bold animal prints. Neutral and earthy tones keep the balance in safari-influenced styles, while a flamingo takes the spotlight on a mini dress. The digital presentation concludes with a ’40s evening, where shades of fuchsia, pastel pink and more take over red carpet gowns.
