For Dior Fall/Winter 2021, Maria Grazia Chiuri immersed herself in the world of fairy tales. Presenting a collection of opulent garments inspired by the heroines of fantasies including Little Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast, the designer re-contextualizes childhood nostalgia through a sartorial lens.
As captured in a collection of backstage photos by Inès Manai, details including gilded rose jewelry recall the magic of Beauty and the Beast while cocoon-like capes nod to Little Red Riding Hood. Expressing the fairy tale transformation of a doe-eyed ingenue to a full-fledged princess, a white doily lace frock is presented alongside an extravagant layered tulle gown, dyed sea foam green to azure blue ombré.
