Rick Owens x Dr. Martens Set To Release Co-Branded 1460 Bex Platform Boot
The first of two collaborative installments from the duo.
Adding to its long roster of partners, Dr. Martens has now tapped Rick Owens for a new collaboration. The team-up consists of two installments, kicking off with the 1460 Bex boot.
“When I was becoming physically aware, I saw how a tightly laced ankle leading to a broad, solidly planted foot had a simple, modest, industrial masculinity – almost like a corset between a muscled calf and a sturdy foot that acted as a stoic ballast,” Owens explains the inspiration behind the newly designed shoes in a press release. “Coming full circle to partner with Dr. Martens 40 years later leads me to lacing them with pearl-colored cotton laces in a geometric pattern that I use often as a symbol of our eternal collective search for rational order,” he adds.
The resulting design sees the ’90s silhouette with metal eyelets connecting a long shoelace to create a star-like figure. Dr. Martens’ signature yellow stitching serves contrast on the soles, while the sock liner comes with dual branding. The footwear style is rounded out with a zip closure on the medial sides. The Rick Owens x Dr. Martens shoe will arrive at the British footwear brand’s web store on March 20, with a second release scheduled for May.
