9GAG Brings a Meme Museum to Hong Kong's K11 Art Mall

Immortalizing your favorite viral images throughout internet history.

Hong Kong‘s K11 Art Mall has partnered with 9GAG, the notorious meme-sharing platform, to launch an exhibition dedicated entirely to memes. Bridging the online and the offline, the “MEME Museum” features seven immersive installations immortalizing viral images throughout internet history.

“In the Meme-time” is a tunnel that presents a timeline of meme history, charting hits from Success Kid to Distracted Boyfriend. “Beyond the Meme” is an interactive room that introduces smell to the meme experience, pairing famous memes with fragrance. Other notable areas of the show include a meme tattoo shop (yes, you can get Doge temporarily inked on your body), a meme photo booth and a “Meme-go-round” of local memes from around the world.

9GAG x K11 Art Mall’s “MEME Museum” is on view from July 16 to September 5 at K11 Art Mall in Hong Kong.
