BTS Among 200 Collaborators To Reimagine Louis Vuitton's Iconic Trunk
In celebration of the founder’s 200th birthday.
Louis Vuitton, the man behind one of the world’s leading luxury fashion brands, turns 200 years old on August 4. In celebration of his bicentennial birthday, the fashion house has tapped 200 visionaries from around the world representing a variety of fields to rework the iconic Louis Vuitton trunk.
Standouts include designs by global K-pop group BTS. The top of the trunk features a multicolored striped layout with the LV logo in the center. All four sides of the piece boast the label’s logo, including one in Korean, as well as graphics arriving in the form of a heart, Louis Vuitton handbag, whales and a carrot. Elsewhere, Samuel Ross‘s iteration comes in an abstract design dressed in a striking neon orange hue. Meanwhile, New York-based artist Mr. Flower Fantastic has applied his signature floristry technique, completely covering the trunk with leaves and artificial flowers crafted from LV monogram leather.
The 200 trunks will be digitized and shared across Louis Vuitton’s social platforms before going to auction at Sotheby’s this coming December. All proceeds will be donated to an organization, which the house has yet to decide on.
