Kakao Friends Unexpectedly Teams up With Louis Poulsen on Ryan-Themed Lamp
Limited to 1,000 units only.
Kakao Friends, the label created based on South Korean messaging app KakaoTalk‘s popular emoticons, has unexpectedly joined forces with Danish design brand Louis Poulsen on a desk lamp.
The release marks the first collaboration for the lighting manufacturer, which has been around since 1874 with some of the most cult-loved designs by iconic architects and designers. The brand has worked with the Korean label on reworking the Panthella Portable, a portable table lamp designed by Verner Panton, one of the biggest Danish designers of the mid-20th century.
Measuring 16cm in width and 23.8cm in height, the lamp is dressed in Kakao’s signature yellow hue while offering lighting in 10%, 33% and 100% brightness levels. In celebration of the partnership, the duo is accompanying the lamp with a special wireless charging pad, which is accessorized with mini-sized magnetic Ryan and Choonsik figurines. For those unfamiliar, Ryan — one of the leading characters in the Kakao Friends lineup — is a lion described to have “delicate emotions,” and Choonsik is his pet cat.
Take a closer look at the design above and below. The Panthella Portable Ryan Edition is limited to 1,000 units only and is exclusively available now via the Kakao Friends store for ₩568,000 KRW (approximately $437 USD).
