Netflix Announces Open Casting Call for 'Squid Game' Reality Competition Series
Open to any English-language speaker in the world.
Netflix is gearing up for another wave of Squid Game, greenlighting a reality competition show inspired by the series that took the world by storm last year.
The K-drama — which was recently confirmed to return with a second season — will be receiving a reality version titled Squid Game: The Challenge, described to be “the biggest reality competition series ever” with the largest cast and a lump sum cash prize with 456 players competing for $4.56 million USD. As expected, contestants will participate in a series of games inspired by the original show.
Netflix is currently recruiting for English speakers from anywhere in the world. “Squid Game took the world by storm with Director Hwang’s captivating story and iconic imagery. We’re grateful for his support as we turn the fictional world into reality in this massive competition and social experiment. Fans of the drama series are in for a fascinating and unpredictable journey as our 456 real world contestants navigate the biggest competition series ever, full of tension and twists, with the biggest ever cash prize at the end,” Netflix’s vice president of unscripted and documentary series Brandon Riegg told Variety.
You can head over to the Squid Game: The Challenge website for a chance to partake in the 10-episode reality series.
