Keke Palmer Addresses Comparison With Zendaya Over Colorism
“I’m an incomparable talent,” says the ‘Nope’ actor.
Keke Palmer has taken to social media to address viral tweets comparing her and Zendaya and how colorism supposedly plays a role in both of their success.
In the social media conversation, fans are claiming that Nope is being considered Palmer’s breakout role despite the fact that both actors are former child stars. Palmer then fired back with receipts. She wrote, “A great example of colorism is to believe I can be compared to anyone. I’m the youngest talk show host ever. The first Black woman to star in her own show on Nickelodeon and the youngest and first Black Cinderella on broadway. I’m an incomparable talent. Baby, THIS, is Keke Palmer.”
She continued, “I’ve been a leading lady since I was 11 years old. I have over 100+ credits and currently starring in an original screenplay that’s the number one film at the box office #NOPE. I’ve had a blessed career thus far, I couldn’t ask for more but God continues to surprise me.”
Palmer made her acting debut in the 2004 film Barbershop 2: Back in Business. In 2006, she starred in Akeelah and the Bee, which many consider her breakthrough. Her most recent project is Jordan Peele‘s Nope, co-starring alongside Daniel Kaluuya.
