Concepts Unveil Exclusive New Balance 1906R Campaign, "Women and Their Collections"
An exploration of the objects women collect through their work and pursuits.
Concepts and New Balance are continuing their collaborative efforts with the debut of an exclusive 1906R silhouette. To commemorate the launch, the streetwear and footwear platform has unveiled a special editorial titled “Women and their Collections,” an exploration of the objects women collect through their work and pursuits.
The campaign sees NewYork-based spatial designer Christine Espinel, athlete Angie Chavez and archivist and curator Djali Brown-Cepeda among their favorite objects. Through the lens of London-based photographer Sirui Ma, we see Espinel leaning in an iconic Gaetano Pesce Broadway chair for inspiration or Brown-Cepeda amongst her collected imagery, vinyl collection, framing and scanning tools. Meanwhile, Chavez is portrayed amongst her climbing mat, medicine ball, foam roller, bike pump and helmet.
On the making of the campaign, Annie Morgan, Brand Director at Concepts, commented: “We really wanted to focus on women and their collections, and not just sneakers, but the objects that they use daily to enhance their lives or what pushes their individuality. We worked with Christine, Djali and Angie, all super unique and amazing in their own right. Sirui, our photographer, and our producer who directed this, Mellany, all embody that true New York strong female spirit.”
She continued, “Given the quality and values that New Balance represents, we know these women embody that and could continue to tell an interesting and fresh story. I love working with close-knit female teams, and in this industry, it’s hard to make it happen, so when it does, we always feel really good about the femme perspective we are projecting with the imagery. New Balance has given us repeated opportunities to run our own creative and support with exclusive launches. It is an amazing partnership.”
As for the exclusive 1906R sneakers, Concepts has unveiled four unisex styles in monochromatic colors. Arriving in black, white and beige hues, the silhouettes deliver a deconstructed feel through a combination of suede and mesh material. All sneakers include midsole cushioning for a versatile, flexible fit, as well as heel cushioning for additional stability and comfort.
Priced at $170 USD, the Concepts interpretation of New Balance 1906R is now available to purchase online and in stores.
