A Beauty Editor and Former Glossier Employee Shares the Top Products That Are Worth the Coins

Truly editor tested and approved.

4.6K

Glossier is one of those beauty brands that no one can really tell me anything about. Before I jumped full-time into the beauty editor life, I was once an HQ employee of the brand. From the G’s offerings that range from skincare, body care, makeup and fragrance, I pretty much touched and dished on all of the drops before they hit the market.

When most become hip to this information of mine, many ask: “What are the best products to try?” Or “How do you wear any of their stuff?” as I am a proud Black person and Glossier is notorious in the community for not being inclusive of Black and Brown people of deeper shades. Admittedly I don’t touch any of the complexion products for this reason as I am simply past the point of mixing two and three shades of a concealer, foundation or skin tint from a brand just to make it work. However, do I swear by the Milky Jelly cleanser? Yes, I do. And to be frank, Boy Brow will always be that girl for me. It’s just that good.

So for those curious to jump aboard the Glossier train and want the full deets on the products I think are worth the coins, keep on ahead for more.

PS: No, I do not like the new packaging of the Balm Dotcom lip salve.

Skincare

Milky Jelly Cleanser

Price: $19 USD

Review: This cleanser is not only a good face wash, but myself and many other employees from Glossier would use this as a face and body shaving cream. It’s that gentle and the best part is that it’s non-drying. A definite win.

“Super Bounce” Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Price: $29 USD

Review: Hands down, this serum is my holy grail HA product. I’ve tested many Hyaluronic serums and there’s nothing like this formula. For those with acne-prone and dry skin, you need to add this into your rotation.

Makeup

Boy Brow

Price: $17 USD

Review: Before I worked at Glossier, I had never used of the products. This was one of my “starter” tries that was given to me in my first day packet and I instantly fell in love. With a few soft flicks of the wrist with Boy Brow, I instantly achieved the coveted and most sought after “editorial” eyebrow.

Brow Flick

Price: $18 USD

Review: I tested this product way before it hit the market and wasn’t sold at first. We had pro makeup artist’s come into the office to show us how to really get into the “flick” and I’ll say if you’re not an eyebrow pro, steer clear. But for the girlies that are looking to fill in the sparse areas and make your brow look fuller — she’s your girl. Once I got the hang of how to use the tool, I got it.

Pro Tip: For this specific product, go a shade lighter than your eyebrow color. Example: If your eyebrows are dark brown to black – opt for the dark brown shade and go over your brows with a dark brown Boy Brow to circumvent getting a harsh look.

Lash Slick

Price: $18 USD

Review: I use three to four mascaras in my makeup routine. I always start my lashes with Lash Slick mascara. They immediately open the eyes and best of all, there is zero clumping. Just full on extending, baby.

Generation G Lipstick

Price: $18 USD

Review: Okay, I’ll be honest. If you’re a Black and Brown person with darker lips, you’re going to have to swipe the lipstick a few times to achieve a color payoff. This was my only gripe. However, the shades are extremely flattering once you get them to show up.

Favorite Shade: “Leo”

Body Care

Body Hero Oil Wash

Price: $20 USD

Review: We had an employee shower room at the office and the best perks was being able to slather myself in this amazing body wash. It’s not frothy, but it’s super hydrating, decadent and luxurious.

Body Hero Dry-Touch Oil Mist

Price: $28 USD

Review: Honestly, your shower experience won’t be complete without immersing yourself with this oil mist afterwards. Your skin will be left with an instantly dry and radiant glow without messing up the underside of your new blouse or shirt.
