Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY's "Engine Room" Enters a New, Darker Chapter
A theatrical and surreal world, in which the label’s playful craftsmanship comes alive.
In a twist of fashion fate, Charles Jeffrey has unveiled a world hidden within the shadows of his Fall/Winter 2023 collection for LOVERBOY. Like a master alchemist, he beckons us to step into “The Engine Room,” a clandestine and enigmatic underworld that serves as both a portal to purgatory and a realm of creativity.
Within this dark and haunting setting, toxic fumes intermingle with the sound of chaotic machinery, reflecting the eternal struggle to keep Ajuka, a floating city, from plummeting into oblivion. In the midst of this surreal landscape, some daring souls tirelessly toil, seeking to earn their coveted citizenship and a fresh start, while others find themselves trapped in a maze of ceaseless labor, their sanity in jeopardy.
While evoking a theatrical and surreal experience, Jeffrey skillfully infuses the collection with a sense of structured craftsmanship. The range features double-belted skirts, signature Charles Jeffrey tartan matching sets, oversized sweaters, balaclavas and dramatic pointed-collar shirts, all of which complement the dark ambiance.
Furthermore, adding to the collection’s themes, the “The Engine Room” campaign showcases visuals shot in the catacombs of Somerset House in London.
Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY’s second drop of the FW23 collection is now available online.
