Butter Yellow Is Back for SS25

From Jacquemus and LOEWE to LUAR and Labrum, the seasonal hue is fashion week-approved.

Every season, there are those few colors that pop up again and again, on fashion week runways, on all the Instagram it-girls and inevitably: our For You Pages. During the Fall/Winter 2023 season, it was shades like peach fuzz and bright red that dominated our feeds and for Spring/Summer 2024 — there was a new hue in town.

Butter yellow began to steal the limelight, evidenced by fashion week collections from Jacquemus, Bottega Veneta, LOEWE and Paloma Wool — to name a few. So far, it’s arrived in full monochromatic looks mixed and matched with different shades of beige, off-white and lemon, plus worn as a pop of color through accessories and footwear.

Speaking about the shift towards the subtle hue, Depop explains: “After red’s domination as the color of the moment, we see softer colors returning as we settle into the summer, with yellow being the perfect shade for holidays, summer events and festivals. Still bright enough to draw attention, yet soft enough to be wearable, butter yellow evokes a cheerfulness and a carefree attitude that goes hand in hand with the summer season.”

Alongside the aforementioned showcases, Depop cites designers like Collina Strada, Philip Lim and Zimmerman as contributors to the trend, plus celebs like Sabrina Carpenter, Aubrey Plaza and FKA twigs. As we enter the fashion week Spring/Summer 2025 season, we’re beginning to see it crop up again on runways, so far spotted at LUAR’s NYFW show and Labrum in London.

Scroll down for some of the biggest butter-yellow moments in fashion so far, and stay tuned for more as they come.

LOEWE’s pin dress has already been worn several times by celebrity fans, confirming the popularity of the silky yellow tone that appeared in the brand’s SS24 runway show. Alongside the dress, Anderson presented a range of classic shirts and knits in the same supple hue.

LUAR SS25

LUAR‘s SS25 showcase at New York Fashion Week merged attitude with personal experience, drawing inspiration from founder Raul Lopez’s journey of self-discovery. Paying homage to the NYC drag scene and nightlife, the collection favored hues of black, silver, brown and grey, punctuated by accents of rich butter yellow. Appearing across knitted dresses with hoods and v-neck gowns, the vibrant color added a touch of lightness to the collection.

Labrum London SS25
