Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish & Taylor Swift Have the Most Nominations at the 2019 MTV VMAs
A new “K-pop” category arrives as well, featuring BTS, BLACKPINK, EXO and more.
Who run the world? Girls. At this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, women are dominating the charts with Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift swooping in with 10 nominations and Billie Eilish with nine nominations. Of course, Lil Nas X‘s “Old Town Road” received eight nominations with Shawn Mendes and Halsey tying at five nominations each. Other nominees include Lady Gaga, Cardi B, FKA twigs, Solange, Camila Cabello, Drake, Kanye West and Jonas Brothers.
Not only do the top 10 nominees feature more women than ever before, but a new “K-pop” category has been added to the roster this year. Nominees in the “K-pop” category include fan-favorite groups such as BLACKPINK, BTS, EXO and NCT 127. The 14 VMA categories this year reflect the diverse and continually changing face of pop music.
