Inside Prada's SS20 Show Beauty Prep, Backstage at Milan Fashion Week
Runway regulars like Sora Choi, Gigi Hadid and Adut Akech get ready for the catwalk.
Amid eye-popping trends and over-the-top presentations seen throughout Fashion Month, Prada is going back to basics with its Spring/Summer 2020 collection. Instead of running a goth, horror motif like she did for her Fall/Winter 2019 range, Miuccia Prada has centered her show this season around the theme of women and their style.
The show notes read:
Reduction to an essence. An antidote to complexity. A purity, a directness, an instinct. These are the source-points of inspiration behind the Prada Spring/Summer 2020 womenswear collection. It is, fundamentally, a collection about the power of women over clothing, and of style over fashion.
Complementing the tasteful ensembles that seamlessly blend sartorial references from different eras — from ’20s-style hats to ’70s-inspired patterns — were minimal and timeless beauty looks. Seemingly barefaced makeup was occasionally accented by matte red lips and artistic graphic liner that ran parallel to the eyebrow. Models also wore side-parted, shiny hair and sleek, low ponytails with a voluminous top.
